Quand le lycée a-t-il été construit ?

When was the school built ?

The high school is very old : it dates from before the high school was French (1840) in the Sard time. The first buildings were we are, are a hundred years old. And that building (2nd) was build in 1960. The last one in 1993. The entire school was built step by step.

Pourquoi le nom de G.F. ?

Why its name is “Guillaume Fichet” ?

G.F. is the man from the Middle Ages who was the first to bring printing to France. He dates from around 1400 and that man was from the region.

Quels sont les objectifs de l’Education en France ?

What are the aims of the French Education ?

Erm … Like all education systems in the world, the first aim is to bring knowledge to students and give them skills to get a career. Currently, we want to have a lot of success at the Baccalauréat  (the best pass rate at high school exam) and the best thing we could hope is to have 50% of an age group to reach degree level (“licence” in French), so Bac + 3.

Que pensez-vous des échanges internationaux ?

What do you think about international exchanges ?

Well, I think international exchanges are very significant for a school like ours. And we have been trying to develop that concept for several years. We started by simple exchanges with Germany and England for example where we keep sending students to visit those countries. But we are currently developing lots of European Comenius projects with STG students and we are also developing a project named “Leonardo” with professional level students, which would allow students to do a work placement in London instead of doing it in France . Moreover we have an exchange called “Alcotra” with Italian students.

Mister Dodu’s interview :

Combien d’élèves y a-t-il dans cette école ?

How many are in this school ?

There are 987 students. Through that number, we have to see various types of students :

-      General bac (S : scientific – ES : social economic – L : literature)

-      Technological bac (STG : management)

-      Professional bac (selling – trade / commerce)

We also have adult students who study management in a BTS (after passing the Bac) and adult professional training.

Combien de professeurs y a-t-il dans cette école ?

How many teachers are there in this high school ?

There are around 90 teachers (for Bac and BTS)

It’s my first position as a deputy headmaster (vice principal) in this school.

Combien de classes y a-t-il ?

How many forms are there ?

There are 37 classes (in the different Bacs) and there is a little high school in the high school where there are 300 students in pro-vocational Bac.

Quels sont les objectifs de l’Education en France ?

What are the aims of the French Education ?

According to the French Constitution (voted by the people), the French Education aims at educating every child. We are in a country which can afford to educate every child to a social and professional life (because it is free of charge). It provides knowledge and shapes citizens.

Que pensez-vous des échanges internationaux ?

What do you think about international exchanges ?

The teaching system has changed a lot since I was a student myself and today it’s really interesting to welcome foreign students.

International opening is just wonderful and interesting. In the past, English lessons were based on listening to the teacher, sitting on a chair whereas today, oral interaction is a “must”.  Now, people of my generation can understand English more or less but not as much as today’s students. Moreover new technologies are an extra asset to communication skills.

A quoi pensez-vous quand on vous dit “Inde” ?

What do you think about when you hear « India » ?

To me, India is first a huge country with lots of people. More than one billion of diverse populations with all social, economic, political and industrial consequences/aspects that go with it. But it’s a great country !

Thank you very much for your interview.
