In search of the Apls

The alpine range situated on the est of the France runs right across Switzerland, West of Austria and

northern Italy. The Alpine range is the longest chain of Europe : 1100 km long and 280 km wide.

The surface area of the Alps is of 190 000 km² .In the Alps there are 82 peak that reaches at more

4000 metres

We will discover two places of the Alps:

_The gorge of Verdon _ The massif of Mount-Blanc

The massif of Mont-Blanc is at 50 km from Bonneville, the Mont-Blanc reaches 4810 metres at its highest point.

The first ascent of the Mont-Blanc was in 1786 by the Alpinist Jacques Balmat.

Each year hundreds of people try to go to the top of the Mont-Blanc but it's dangerous there are10 people die every year.

Until the XVIII century the Mont-Blanc was called the “cursed mountain” because according to the legend there is very long time the Mont-Blanc was green, without ice. But ice demon invaded mountain.

In the massif of mount-blanc you can practice many sports :

You can walk around the Mont-blanc, where there isn’t ice and where you can see fauna and an exceptional flora. If you are silent you can make out ibex, chamois, marmot...

In winter you can ski or go surfing but you must be careful because there are often avalanches.

All year round you can practice mountaineering.

In summer you can climb or do mountain bike. Crazy peoples can paragliding or base-jumping.

Natural reserve of Verdon

The natural reserve of Verdon is situated in the southern Alps

The natural reserve of Verdon is known for his dizzy cliff, his impressive gorges, but it's also a ground of adventure perfect to the one who looks for strong sensations .

The gorge of Verdon is place of climbing. Everyone which

practice climbing go at least one time in the Verdon. There are more than 900 way.

There is an amazing atmosphere but you shouldn't suffer from vertigo.

It's a ground where you can practice hiking and discover beautiful landscapes, a fauna and a flora exceptional.

There are 24 species of bat and 180 species of birds. You can also see chamois, roe,stag...

Among birds you can see the golden eagle, the bearded Vulture, the black Vulture, the Griffon Vulture or the shot-toed Eagle. They can be dangerous you must be vigilant.
